Getting knocked out in his UFC debut fight didn’t stop Muñoz from entering the Octagon again.

Five months later, he stepped into the Octagon with Nick Catone, another UFC veteran, for what could be described as his best match in his young MMA pound for pound career.

This time, he cut down in weight and fought in the 185-pound division.

The fight lasted three rounds, with Catone piling points in the first. Muñoz, however, came back in the next two rounds to score his first win in the UFC.

“He kept coming, I hit him with some good shots, he hit me with some good shots. I think my tenacity and my conditioning won the fight for me there,” he said.

Then came in the Ryan Jensen fight this January when Muñoz pummeled his opponent to submission at the 2:30 mark of the first round.

“With my ground and pound, they stopped the fight then. It was a good fight,” he said.

Muñoz now has a 7-1 win-loss record in MMA.
He said he will work to make each match an improvement of previous fights until he wins a UFC title.

“I wanna people see my work ethic, ‘cause Filipinos are known as Sikat ang Pinoy for their work ethic, for their passion… I’m gonna improve myself every time I step into the cage. I wanna be a champion I wanna be at the top and gonna work to get there,” said Muñoz. Source: http://www.abs-cbnnews.com/sports/01/10/10/mma-star-mark-muñoz-being-pinoy-and-proud-it
